Who?  Clients:  A tOTal ability occupational therapist will help to solve the problems that interfere with your (child’s, employee’s, parent’s) ability to do the things that are important to you.   An OT can also help prevent a problem or minimize its effects. When an injury, illness, disability, disease or other problem limits your ability to take care of yourself, participate in paid or unpaid work, learn at school, enjoy your leisure time (play, hobbies, sports) then a tOTal ability OT can help.  Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists & World Federation of Occupational Therapists.

 What? 

The occupational therapist will

1.       Enter/initiate therapy when requested by ANYONE; the client, parent, health care professional, teacher, etc.  A physician’s prescription is not required, but may be requested by insurance for reimbursement. 2.       Set the stage by interviewing  & observing for a consultation appointment of about 1 hour 3.       Assess/evaluate at our clinic, your home, school, daycare, residence, or workplace. 4.       Agree on objectives and treatment plan; we provide a written plan that includes estimated costs. 5.       Implement the plan as agreed upon with therapy at any necessary location 6.       Monitor/ modify the plan by appraising progress and communicating with you and everyone on your team. 7.       Evaluate the outcome by re-assessment. 8.       Conclude/exit treatment when goals are achieved & occupational performance & engagement has improved. 

When?  Daytime appointments are available, evening and weekend appointments upon request. 

Where?  Our multi-disciplinary clinic is at 156 Westmorland Road, Suite 302, Saint John, New Brunswick. The building is wheelchair accessible. We provide off-site services Saint John-Fredericton-Moncton-St. Stephen and beyond upon request. Per kilometre rate and travel time fees apply.

Why? The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable people to participate in the occupations which give meaning and purpose to their lives.  We can help your child learn & improve handwriting; cope with sensory processing challenges; master self-care skills; attend, concentrate & learn at school; improve coordination & motor skills.  We can help workplaces make workspaces accessible; ensure workstations are ergonomic;  educate employees about health; help an employee return to work after injury or illness;  establish job duties to assess when hiring new workers; conduct safety assessments to reduce workplace injury; teach employees how to protect their back at work.  We can help seniors remain safe and independent in their home; choose the right assistive device; obtain the appropriate wheelchair, scooter or power wheelchair.
